The athletics world championship was postponed from August 2021 to July 2022

Even before the official announcement on 24 March of the postponement of the Tokyo Olympic Games one year from the end of July 2020 to the end of July 2021.

Accordingly, the leaders of world athletics pointed out that they are ready to also move their one-year world championship, scheduled to take place in Eugene (USA), in early August 2021. The world athletic event will take place from July 15-24, 2022.

The World Athletics Federation postpones the Olympic qualifiers

The World Athletics Federation (IAAF) has just decided to postpone the 2021 Olympic qualifiers. It is postponed after consulting with the Committee of Athletes, Presidents of regional federations, and Federation Council. In its statement, the IAAF stated that the 2021 Tokyo Olympic qualifiers would not take place between April 6 and November 30, 2020.

During this time, results obtained in any tournament are not considered for the Tokyo 2021 Olympics or world ranking calculation. These results will only be recorded for statistics including world records. They are not used to judge the athletes’ Olympic qualification. The Tokyo 2021 Olympic Athletics Qualifier will return from December 1, 2020. However, it depends on the situation at that time.

The organizers of March 30 have decided that the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan) will officially move the opening ceremony until July 23, 2121, after the Covid-19 pandemic forced this year’s event to be postponed.

Olympic 2020 is officially set to compete in 2021

The 2020 Olympics were scheduled to open on July 24 this year. It was to take place for 16 days, but the Covid-19 pandemic forced the event to be postponed. This is the first time in the Olympic’s 124-year history to be postponed in peacetime.
